Midsumma Pride March 2023

Midsumma Pride March 2023
Pride 2023 is back! And so is the Midsumma Pride March!! Youth members, adult members, and accompanying supporters are invited to join Girl Guides Victoria in the 2023 March for a fun filled colourful day.

10yrs+ Youth and Adult Guides Victoria members will be marching in the Midsumma 2023 Pride March along Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, from Lakeside Drive to Catani Gardens.
Click here for the planned 2023 route.

Friends, family, and supporters are most welcome to march with us. They can be added as guests in the registration process.
The Pride March is an LGBTQIA+ community event and celebrates diverse genders and sexualities. Those who attend and march in the parade may see or hear things they have not previously been exposed to, and so Youth members under the age of 14 MUST march with and be under the supervision of a parent/guardian over the age of 18 OR their Guide Leader.
Adults in attendance on the day will be the Leader in Charge, Co-Leader and other Guides Victoria Adult members.

All Youth Members attending on the day must have their Health Forms signed by a parent/guardian and brought with them.

If you wish to add extra guests once you have already registered, please email support@guidesvic.org.au

A 2023 Pride March badge will be given to attendees on the day. Extra badges will be availble for purchase (date TBC), from the Girl Guides Victoria online shop

When: Sunday 5 February 2023.
The March officially commences at 11.00 am. Guides marching will be expected to gather at 10.00 am.

Where: Along Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, from Lakeside Drive to Catani Gardens.

Who: 10yrs+ Guides, adult members of Guides and friends

Transport: We recommend travelling by public transport if possible as parking will be difficult nearby. Please note that there will be changes to tram routes.

On the day:
- Please wear your Guide uniform polo shirt for youth and adult members. Otherwise, get creative and show your rainbow! Wear rainbow accessories and accessories in other LGBTQIA+ community flag colours! (Check out Minus18 & Transgender Victoria's online shops).
- This event requires ALL participants to bring and wear a hat. Recent years’ forecasts have been above 40 degrees Celsius, and for this reason, participants without a hat will not be permitted to march.
- Carry your sunscreen and water bottle in a small day pack.
- Face paints will be available, but please do not bring glitter, confetti or balloons. This is a Midsumma Policy.
- Please leave valuables at home. GGV will not be responsible for lost possessions.
- Please remember that you are representing Girl Guides Victoria and as such are subject to all of the usual policies and rules around behaviour, and are expected to uphold the Guide Law. In particular, adult members are reminded not to consume alcohol in uniform or in the presence of youth members.
- We will grab a big group photo at the end of the route (for those with photo permission), after which members will be dismissed.
- Don't forget to bring your Health Form on the day.

Emergency contact: for the day will be Leader in Charge, Jo - 0401 257 646.

Guardians & participants please note :
There will be photographs posted on Girl Guides Victoria social media highlighting our participation in Pride March. All posts will make clear that we have LGBTQIA+ members as well as friends, supporters, and allies marching. If you are not comfortable being photographed please make yourself known to organisers of the Guide contingent on the day.
**Please be aware, however, that we will be in the public domain, and so we cannot control what is photographed and published outside of official Girl Guides Victoria channels.
